CHRIS JAGGER

der kleine bruder des großen ROLLING STONE

In his twenties Chris’ career encompassed designing clothes for Jimi Hendrix, acting in Hair and studying singing in the Himalayas.  He recorded two sought-after LPs (You know the name but not the face and The adventures of Valentine Fox). It was with the release of the album Atcha in 1994 that Chris established his current musical identity and plotted a course that he is still pursuing. Atcha and the follow up Channel Fever combined Chris’ interest in Zydeco, Cajun, Country and R’n’B and featured appearances from Dave Gilmour, Leo Sayer and Mick Jagger. As a talented lyricist, Chris has worked with Franck Langolf and contributed to the Rolling Stones’ ‘Steel Wheels’. Besides being a passionate performer, Chris also writes for music papers and broadsheets, including the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail. He has also recently been presenting a radio show for the BBC in Bristol.

Chris Jagger is a talented and witty songsmith and an energetic performer.  Ben Waters is an exceptionally gifted pianist and accordionist and Charlie Hart is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and composer.

Their collaboration stretches back over the last ten years: in the U.S. they have appeared on NBC Late Night Live with Conan O’Brian and at the Bottom Line in New York.  In Europe there have been numerous TV shows, festivals, theatre and club dates.  They have worked with the likes of Dave Stewart, Leo Sayer, Dave Gilmour and Mick Jagger.  In 1994 they released the CD From Lhasa to Lewisham under the name Atcha Acoustic, and have also contributed to Chris’ other albums.

They now come back together as the Chris Jagger Trio, sharpened and focused after a couple of years lay-off.  The music is playful yet serious: a striking mix constantly referring to New Orleans, Cajun, Blues traditions and characterised by intelligent song-writing and instrumental virtuosity.

There are already dates in March and May when they are booked for Ned Sherrin’s Loose Ends and the Andy Kershaw show. There will be a German tour in September, dates in U.K and elsewhere to follow.
